How far back Hyperliquid history goes

Keel stores five kinds of Hyperliquid history. Each one starts on a different date, because each comes from a different record: the venue’s own funding history, its per-minute market state, and the full archive of trades. The dates below are read from the store itself, not typed in, and move as history is added.

History by coin

Each coin starts on its own listing day, so a coin listed last month has a month of history and nothing before. If your strategy needs a year of data to warm up an indicator, check the start date here before you pick the coin. Keel does not fill gaps or invent history before a listing.

Funding and open interest, last 30 days

Daily funding is the average of the 24 hourly settlements, annualized (hourly rate × 8,760), so you can compare it with other yields. Green bars mean longs paid shorts that day; red bars mean shorts paid longs. Open interest is the day’s average of hourly readings, valued at the mark price. Hover a bar or the line for the exact value.

What each series is

Funding rate. Hyperliquid settles funding every hour. When the perp trades above its oracle price, longs pay shorts; below it, shorts pay longs. The settled rate is what was actually paid, and it is the number a backtest charges or credits against an open position. The per-minute series also carries the predicted rate for the coming hour, which moves with the premium until the hour closes.

Open interest. The number of contracts open, recorded each minute. Multiplied by the mark price it gives the dollar value of all open positions. Rising open interest with rising price means new longs are coming in; rising price with falling open interest usually means shorts closing.

OHLCV candles. Open, high, low, close and volume. For the early years Keel holds 15-minute candles. Since the trade archive starts, candles come from the 1-minute grid built from every trade, and a strategy reads them at the bar size it declares. 1-minute trade bars. Keel rebuilds each minute from the venue’s full record of fills, not from sampled candles. That makes series a candle cannot give you: taker buy and sell volume, the exact volume-weighted price, how much volume came from TWAP orders, and counts of large prints. These feed Keel’s order-flow loaders.

Liquidations. Every forced close on the venue, with its time, side, size and price, extracted from the same record of fills. Keel stores them, but strategies cannot read them yet.

How to use the history

You don’t download it. You write a strategy, in plain words or in code, and Keel loads the series the strategy asks for, for the coins and dates you pick, and runs it. Funding is charged on open positions, and fees and slippage come off every trade, so the result is what the rule would have earned after costs. Then you change a setting and run it again.

What is not here

The tables cover Hyperliquid’s native crypto perps. Keel also records the HIP-3 markets (stocks, indices and commodities) from their listing, but backtesting them is coming soon, so they are left out here. Spot pairs are not covered. Keel keeps no order book history and no per-wallet data, so there is no whale tracker or trader leaderboard. And the history is used inside Keel, not exported: this page tells you what exists so you can decide whether it covers the test you want to run.
